From Sao Luis I went up the coast to Belem--a huge port city at the mouth of the Amazon.  I spent a few days on a sleepy little island called Ihla de Marajo where I met the folks pictured here.

After Ihla de Marajo, I met back up with James (Sasha had gone home), and we headed up the Amazon.
