Barco de muerte
Adam and I spent the majority of our time in Ushuaia trying to get to Antarctica. There are a few ways to accomplish this, but we became fixated on the most asinine one-take a sailing ship. You can basically pay someone to take you on a 28 day journey around the antarctic. This, of course, involves crossing the drake passage (the most dangerous stretch of ocean in the world), twice. As it ends up, the boat pictured here, the Don Vito, was our only option. It also was the worst sailboat in the harbor, and other sailors recommended against taking it across the drake. In the end, common sense overcame adventure and we turned down the offer. A couple of days later, we took the Don Vito to Puerto Williams... you can see the shots of the engine breaking later in the album. |
