So, we lost the trail in the fog.  Big time.  When the fog finally cleared an hour or so later, we were trying to get our bearings on where we were.  We only had a bad map and trail description in our guide book, and best we figured it we had to drop into this valley and we missed a turn. 

We decided to just bush whack our way down from where we were.  This was a very, very bad idea as it was super steep and we ended up on a brutal off-trail hike.

It was also a bad idea in that we were wrong, and the trail was not below us in the valley.
